Have you ever been on a pub crawl? Well for people who like a cruise this one is for you. We all know the locals of Denmark have a reputation for being big beer lovers, but they’ve topped their game and are inviting beer lovers from around the world to embark upon this adventure. This special hunt for the best beer around takes place next April as they set sail from the shores of Dover and it is all part of the attractions on Saga’s ‘On the Trail of the Vikings’ cruise.
If you are ever wanting to visit the university city of Aalborg in the north of Jutland, this is your chance. The trip to this city is known as there most enjoyed part of this cruise and its one not to miss. This is because it’s here that passengers can sign up for the extra special walking tour to Jomfru Ane Gade. Pubs, bars, restaurants and nightclubs are all dedicated to this street and you have the chance to discover this town from a beer lovers perspective. At each of the popular pubs guests can learn about speciality beers, featuring some that are brewed on the premises, and enjoy six beer tastings. The guided pub walk is a chance to discover the town purely from a beer lover’s perspective. To make the most out of your trip you drink your beer in a special glass marked with the Aalbord Beerwalk logo, you can then take this memorable glass home with you. As you stroll from pub to pub the guide leader will also be highlighting places of interest in this old town, indicating where you should go if you ever come back. After all this beer tasting you are sure to be hungry, this is why your final stop of the night will be in Sogaard’s Bryghus, here you will be served a Danish treat. The next port of call is the country’s cultural capital AArhus, this is located in the centre of Denmark. Here the ships guests can either relax on board or visit the Old Town and try out some local pubs. If these two destinations weren’t enough then it’s on to Copenhagen where fairy tale author Hans Christian Andersen was born. This destinations enter a world of reminders of the city’s fairy tale heritage, such as the Gefion Fountain and Amalienborg Palace. The ship holds 712 passengers and on their pub crawl adventure they call into Oslo in Norway. Oslo is home to 50 museums that are all full with galleries. It is also home to cafe’s, The Royal Palace and The Vigeland Sculpture Park. And just before sailing back to Denkmark, our final stop on this adventuresome pub crawl is Skagen, a town where mid-19th century artists flocked to capture radiant light on the ruggedly beautiful landscape.
